BRISBANE, APARTMENT COMPLEX
The design of this 'Urban Infill' housing project involved the resolution of significant constraints imposed by the existing multi-story developments neighbouring the site. The difficult configuration of the L shaped site was not a hinderence to the final design outcome. The design addressed the neighbouring St Paul's Church and ensuring minimal impact on the heritage listed Church, whilst resolving the issue of road noise on the western face.
The design solution adopted, is unashamedly contemporary whilst still being neighbourly to each of the adjoining developments. In fact, this new infill development softens the previously unhappy visual conflict that existed between the church and the office building. Prior to the apartment complex, the office development drawfed the Church, and now the 'Urban Infill' has prevented the Church from being dominated within the street scape. |
